“We’ll take to the pitch with the Juventus’ spirit with humility and respect. We are aware that we can get achieve great results with sacrifice,” the defender said at a press conference.

“We must be focused and not rush to score immediately. We need a goal and we can score it also at the end of the game. We are aware Porto are not going to defend only.

“We made too many mistakes in Porto, but we’ve learned from them. This Juventus side is a  team made by big men who can take responsibility in every moment. We want to take Juventus where we deserve.

“We can’t afford to throw anything away tomorrow. It’s hard to have the right approach when you play one game every three days, but it’s no excuse.

“Cristiano is always ready to play these games. Some time ago, he said he would play only Champions League games. So, you can imagine his energy for tomorrow’s game.”

Bonucci returned to action on Saturday after recovering from an injury.

“I am feeling like a player who returns to action after a break of a month. The coach will decide the XI, but everyone will be ready. I spent a month out of the pitch, I am looking forward to playing, but it’s up to the coach to decide the line-up.”

If he starts, he will have Merih Demiral close to him.

“Merih is gaining self-esteem. He needed time to recover from an injury and he proved to be an important player for this team. He gives enthusiasm.

“Saturday’s win against Lazio gives us self-confidence, but every game teaches us something. We must improve daily and achieve what we want.”

Is he surprised by the impact of Federico Chiesa?

“I expected this from Chiesa. He doesn’t feel too much pressure. He runs a lot. He is genuine and spontaneous, which made him understand what it means to wear the Juventus shirt.
