Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci says they ‘wasted time on tests and analysis’ under Cesare Prandelli.

Former FIGC director general Antonello Valentini gave an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport in which he criticised the former CT’s approach, and Bonucci appeared to agree.

“When we started with Prandelli for the World Cup, the conditions were very different from how things turned out,” Bonucci admitted in a Press conference ahead of the friendly with Portugal.

“It’s true, what Antonello says, we wasted a bit too much time on tests and analysis, we spent too many mornings in front of a computer.

“We’d have been better to have been out on the pitch, when you don’t have much time you have to take advantage of what little you have.

“We failed to gel with the new players. It’s always best for a team to spend as much time as possible on the pitch.”
