Leonardo Bonucci maintains ‘the minimum target for Juventus is reaching the last eight of the Champions League’ after topping their group.

The Bianconeri were able to secure top spot thanks to a 1-0 win over Malmo, but also Zenit St Petersburg equalising in stoppages to hold Chelsea in a 3-3 thriller.

Champions League | Juventus 1-0 Malmo: Kean and Zenit give Juve group

“It would be hypocritical for us to say that Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Liverpool don’t have something more than Juve right now,” said Bonucci in his press conference.

“We can only call upon our best physical and mental shape in the Round of 16 to go forward. The minimum target for Juventus is reaching the last eight of the Champions League.

“Whatever the draw holds for us, and it could be Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, we need to reach those fixtures in the best possible shape. We need to at least reach the quarter-finals.”

  1. Hopefully the Alegri bashers will shut up now. Great job by the coach to beat Chelsea top spot, who are a far better team on paper. Now lets hope for good signings in January

  2. Zenit give us the top spot by doing something that we’re too impotent to do. So stop praising allegri, we grab first spot not because we are good.

  3. Zenit, yes. Sure, helped us. But we beat Zenit twice and unlike Inter for example that lost to Madrid twice, Juve beat Chelsea once.

This wasn’t a smash-n-grab win, by Zenit. 3 goals is not an accident. All the more considering Chelsea’s 3rd goal was Offside. Just get rid of VAR if the correct call isn’t going to be made.

  4. One of the most successful coaches in the game and doing miracles with what he has available in this team. Look at where Milan are with their often-praised Pioli. Everyone calm down. In Allegri we trust.

  5. I’ve been mocked over since the 4 nil bashing in London by Chelsea fans. Now it’s my turn! Thanks to the big boys from St. Petersburg!

  6. We beat Chelsea at home with overtly defensive tactics, a bit of individual magic and luck. Allegri then showed his dynamic coaching ability by trying to do the exact same thing at Stamford Bridge and we got our arses handed to us. Our luck ran out, call it the law of averages.
He is working with the players he has but you have to be blind not to notice that we have a few who not only underperform but are now a liability.
Change mindset, give younger players more than just 5 mins here and there and if we lose then do it fighting.

  7. @Mahsoud: Zenit gave juve top spot by doing something that we’re too impotent to do? JUVE BEAT CHELSEA AND ZENIT TIED THEM ! Seems like to me like Chelsea earned 2nd spot to me ……

  8. Max is a great coach compare with Conte who is running up and down after winning league …Juve must do shopping this January
