Leonardo Bonucci praised the Juventus ‘attitude, with sacrifice, determination and technique’ to beat Bologna 2-0.

It was far from a vintage performance, as Bologna dominated possession and pinned Juve back into their own half for 25 minutes until the second goal.

Alvaro Morata had opened the scoring after just six minutes, then Juan Cuadrado saw his strike deflected off Aaron Hickey into the far top corner.

It is an important weekend for Juve, because Atalanta lost at home to Roma, allowing them to close the gap on the top four.

“We always say that we need to focus on ourselves, because when we play with this attitude, with sacrifice, determination and technique, then we get these results,” Bonucci told DAZN.

“Obviously, we cannot afford to lose any more ground on the teams in front of us and this is an important victory.

“The attitude is one we also had in other games, but the problem is we weren’t consistent. We had this approach for one half and then it’d vanish.”

Bonucci also had words of praise for his individual teammates on a foggy night in Bologna.

“I am seeing great things from everyone, Bernardeschi’s assist and another great performance, Morata breaking his drought for a few games now, Kean working really hard on the wing.

“It’s natural that a goal is like oxygen for a striker, so he’s downbeat when he doesn’t score, but Alvaro has to remember that the team is always behind him.”
