Leonardo Bonucci spoke highly of the new Juventus signings and underlined the team’s desire to return to winning ways both domestically and in Europe.

The Bianconeri did finish in the top four last season but failed to secure any silverware under Massimiliano Allegri, leaving the fans frustrated after a long campaign. Juventus did look better in the second half of the season and Allegri is hoping that the new arrivals help close the gap to the two Milanese clubs.

Speaking on Juventus’ Twitch channel, Bonucci first gave his thoughts on the summer signings made so far.

“We’re feeling very positive, there’s enthusiasm and chemistry in the squad that’s being created. The newcomers have brought great cheerfulness and a desire to work together. We have also raised the level and intensity in training and in the matches.”

The Italian veteran then spoke about two of the most highly anticipated arrivals, Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria.

“We’e lucky because as far as the two most important players who’ve arrived, Pogba and Di Maria, Paul knows what Juventus is all about and Di Maria is a winner in his own right.

“There is a great desire to come back to the top and win in Italy and to be stars in Europe again.”

He commented on Juventus’ winning mentality and what’s been missing in recent years.

“I see the desire and humility to sacrifice on the part of everyone, wanting to have the winning mentality that distinguished us.

“Unfortunately, in recent years we have struggled to maintain that. We want to go back to being the war machine that distinguished the last decade.”

Finally, Bonucci spoke about the departure of Matthijs de Ligt and the arrival of his replacement, Gleison Bremer.

“After the departure of De Ligt the right signing was Bremer, he has great qualities and important values.

“He is very quiet, slowly this part of him will appear as it was at Torino. And Gatti has a great future.”

Juventus will face Real Madrid in their final pre-season friendly in the US this evening. They have one more friendly pencilled in, against Atletico Madrid, before their season kicks off.
