Bonucci apologises to Juventus fans

Leonardo Bonucci offered his apologies to Juventus fans after last night’s 3-0 loss against Villarreal.

The Italy international is injured so was not available last night. This morning, he took to social media to offer his view on last night’s defeat.

“Living these kinds of games from the outside made me understand what our fans think on nights like these,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Apologies is the only thing to do now. We must transform this disappointment and frustration into anger to face the rest of the games and get the targets left.”

Bonucci is unlikely to recover for the next Serie A match against Salernitana on Sunday and might miss Italy’s World Cup play-offs semi-finals against North Macedonia next week.

Juventus have been eliminated from the Champions League Round of 16 for the third successive season. The last time they reached the quarter-finals of the competition was in 2018-19, during Max Allegri’s first spell at the club.

After last night’s defeat, the Italian tactician defended his players and insisted that Juventus’ season has not been disastrous. Juventus sit seven points behind table leader Milan in Serie A and are in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, which seems to be their only chance to lift a piece of silverware this season.
