Leonardo Bonucci offered his apologies to Juventus fans after last night’s 3-0 loss against Villarreal.

The Italy international is injured so was not available last night. This morning, he took to social media to offer his view on last night’s defeat.

“Living these kinds of games from the outside made me understand what our fans think on nights like these,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Apologies is the only thing to do now. We must transform this disappointment and frustration into anger to face the rest of the games and get the targets left.”

Bonucci is unlikely to recover for the next Serie A match against Salernitana on Sunday and might miss Italy’s World Cup play-offs semi-finals against North Macedonia next week.

Juventus have been eliminated from the Champions League Round of 16 for the third successive season. The last time they reached the quarter-finals of the competition was in 2018-19, during Max Allegri’s first spell at the club.

After last night’s defeat, the Italian tactician defended his players and insisted that Juventus’ season has not been disastrous. Juventus sit seven points behind table leader Milan in Serie A and are in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, which seems to be their only chance to lift a piece of silverware this season.

  1. Shows that the old warriors are irreplaceable. Juve need and overhaul except for a few players. Go back to their roots and buy Players who want to play and understand the history!

  2. They need to start the overhaul at the top, and be willing to spend more. As Conte said it’s no use trying to compete in Europe unless you spend like the top European clubs.

  3. He isn’t injured, he just doesn’t want to play for Italy next week and fail again like the last qualifiers! Mans milking it

  4. The backline relies on a 22 yr old, who no matter how good he is, and he is phenomenal, needs help. The midfield is non existent, Locatelli is playing out of position, a trademark of Allegri, and the Frontline can’t produce when you have no service, or creativity to feed them the ball in space. Put simply, this is a management loss and debacle.

Your only creative player is on the bench for 70 minutes. Your entire squad picks up more muscle injuries than Agnelli lies. Allegri thinks that winning 1-0 is beautiful and plays that way every game.

This isn’t only about not having Juventus worth players, this is about management ruining a team based on greed and lack of vision. Ronaldo was pure flash, all about the greed of money and marketing and in the end, it financially doomed them for years.

Clean house from the top. Agnelli, Nedved, Allegri. All have to go. And drop the dead weight. Arthur, Rabiot, De Sciglio, Sandro and many others.

  5. Agree JohnG
Juventus must sign a pacy winger like Chiesa. Real quality and get Bremer. Sell 3-4 players. Include Bernadeschi in your list JohnG.
Allegri must leave. Today you either press like Liverpool or play position football like City, Barcelona or Bayern.

  6. @Mikkel Bostrøm, Bernadeschi is cleaning himself out, his contact is due to expire in three months time.
