Leonardo Bonucci considers Max Allegri ‘the right choice’ for Juventus, while Antonio Conte is ‘the best motivator in the world’ and Roberto Mancini can focus Italy on quality.

The defender spoke at a press conference while on international duty ahead of the Euro 2020 opener against Turkey on Friday.

“We had a great Euros in 2016, even if it ended at the quarter-final stage. As Conte said, we hope Mancini can do even better,” said Bonucci.

“In terms of being a motivator and a charismatic leader, Conte is probably the best in the world. He also had to do that in 2016 to make up for some areas we were lacking in, especially when it comes to quality.

“With Mancini at the helm, we have rediscovered our enthusiasm, enjoyment of football and also talent. They are two very different coaches, both proving themselves to be top class.”

As for at club level, Juventus change yet again this summer, with Andrea Pirlo axed to bring Allegri back after his dismissal in 2019.

“It was the right choice,” continued Bonucci.

“Once Pirlo had been removed, it was wise to go for a coach with a huge amount of experience, who knows Juve and will help us in the daily work to approach the objectives that a club like Juve sets itself every year.”
