Alessandro Lucci, the agent of Leonardo Bonucci, confirmed his client wants to ‘stay at Juventus’ but admitted that they’d ‘consider offers at his level’.

The 36-year-old Italian centre back has been informed that he’s no longer considered a part of the project in the Piedmont capital and wasn’t called up by Massimiliano Allegri for the pre-season tour in the United States.

Bonucci only has a year left on his contract at Juventus and is one of the highest paid players in the squad, so the club are keen to cut him this summer as they work to lower their wage bill.

Speaking to ANSA, Lucci provided an update on his client Bonucci, confirming that offers would be considered this summer.

“I’m hearing so many fanciful market rumours about Bonucci, but his main desire is to stay at Juventus, of which he was captain until a few months ago, to carve out his role within such an important squad.

“He is a world-class footballer, Azzurri captain and leader of a team like Juventus. Should market situations materialise, we would only consider offers at his level in order to find the best solution for everyone.”

Multiple Italian clubs have been linked with a move for Bonucci in recent weeks including Lazio, but for now no concrete progress has been made.

Last season, Bonucci saw 1517 minutes of action across 26 total appearances for Juventus.
