Zbigniew Boniek warns the clamour around Genoa and Poland striker Krzysztof Piatek is “like the first months of falling in love with a beautiful girl.”

The forward has scored a remarkable 13 goals in 10 competitive games for club and country so far this season, netting against Portugal in only his second senior cap.

“He is an interesting player and a complete striker,” the President of the Poland Football Federation told reporters.

“However, right now the situation seems like the first months of falling in love with a beautiful girl. For the first few months, you only see the positive aspects, then you notice the rest.

“Piatek is a serious professional, well-prepared, strong and quick. He won’t score every weekend, because keeping up his current rate would mean 56 goals and that’s just not possible.

“We’ll have to see what contribution he gives to the team when he doesn’t score for about a month. Having said all of that, Piatek is a fine young player and Genoa did well to sign him.”
