The Rossoneri had a nightmare start to the campaign after losing five of their first eight games. With nine ties left, they are third and only two points behind Napoli.

“Juventus are having an incredible season, but second place can be reached,” the former Parma man told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We’ve done some extraordinary things over these last few months. Second in the table is achievable, but we still have two hard months left which will include a number of head-to-head games.”

The stopper, born in 1981, has only featured on 11 occasions in Serie A this term, but he’s hopeful that he’ll be offered an extension to his contract which expires in June.

“The club’s policy of focusing on youth is clear,” he added. “But it is only logical that the squad needs a bit of experience too.

“I hope that I can move forward with this club. I’ve been at Milan for seven years and I’d like to continue here.”
