Former Milan defender Daniele Bonera believes there is “more quality” in La Liga after joining Villarreal.
The centre-back spent nine seasons with the Rossoneri, winning the Scudetto in 2011, but moved to Spain this summer.
“I was fortunate to be with a team which won it all for nine years,” Bonera told Villarreal’s official website.
“For me it was the fulfilment of a dream, because I was fond of Milan before playing for them.

“Now I’ve been at Villarreal for two months, and it’s true that I wasn’t in the best physical condition when I arrived in the first week in September.
“After the first Europa League match I decided to work for four or five weeks to improve my fitness.
“Differences with Serie A? It’s a very different style of football. Spanish football is much faster, everything happens much faster.
“In Italy it’s more of a tactical game, recovering the ball and looking to counter-attack. Small teams usually focus on defence and never attack, but in Spain every team goes out to win, to play a good game and take all three points.
“In think in general there’s more individual quality than in Italy.”
