The midfielder spoke to Milan Channel while in Dubai ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against Real Madrid.
“We received a very warm welcome, as there’s a great passion for football here in Dubai and admiration for Milan. It’s great to be here.
“It may only be a friendly, but obviously it’s still wonderful to play against Real Madrid and their great players. We hope to make a good impression.”
The Rossoneri are currently seventh in Serie A, but only two points adrift of third place.
“The Champions League is our objective and we are playing for this, so we hope to achieve it,” continued Bonaventura.
They’ll do it without Torres, who is on the verge of completing his transfer to Atletico Madrid in an exchange of loans with Alessio Cerci.
“You can only learn from Torres, as he is an exemplary professional. We formed a good rapport with him, despite the fact he wasn’t here for long. He needed more time, but saw this opportunity to join Atletico Madrid – a club he loves very much – so he took it.”
