“Until now the League has not said there’s anyone dominating the standings,” Bonaventura considered in an interview with Milan Channel.

“Everyone has had bad games. We have to believe, and address the problems that we’ve had in these games. We have a squad and a Coach [Sinisa] Mihajlovic who can take us to the top.”

The 26-year-old has two goals and three assists so far this season, and admits he’s pleased with his early form.

“I’m happy, because it means I’ve made a major contribution to the team. There’s still a long way to go, and I want to continue like this.

“Italy? The European Championships are this year, and I have great motivation to do well for that. For an Italian footballer, the national team is one of the most beautiful things.

“We’re fortunate to have [Antonio] Conte, he’s one of the most talented Coaches in Europe. We have to put the reputation of Italian football back on top.”
