Giacomo Bonaventura is a doubt for Milan’s crucial clash with Sampdoria, after picking up an ankle knock.

The Rossoneri welcome Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side on Sunday night in what is now being billed a European showdown.

Milan are eighth, but after Juventus and Lazio both qualified for the Coppa Italia final, sixth place looks almost certain to grant entry to the Europa League.

Napoli currently occupy that spot, but are in poor form and Milan will hope to narrow the six point gap at the weekend.

However, it appears as though Coach Filippo Inzaghi will have to do so without Giacomo Bonaventura, who has picked up an ankle knock.

The former Atalanta midfielder did not train with this teammates today, instead undergoing physiotherapy at Milanello.

That leaves Nigel de Jong and Andrea Poli available in midfield, with Michael Essien and Marco van Ginkel also serious doubts.
