The Aquilotti are looking for their first win over the Rossoblu in six attempts in these Bologna vs. Spezia predictions. Thiago Motta’s side have been inconsistent this season but remain slight favourites in this Serie A clash.

Bologna vs. Spezia odds

1 – A draw at full-time – 13/5

2 – Both teams to score – 23/25

3 – Musa Barrow to score anytime – 5/2

4 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 21/20

5 – Bologna to win – 19/20

Bologna welcome Spezia to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara for Friday night Serie A action, looking to build on their mid-table position. A tough run of fixtures has hampered their start to 2023 but Thiago Motta will be confident of better results with easier opponents on the horizon.

For Spezia, the Serie A restart has gone about as expected, with two defeats, two draws and a win. With a nine-point gap on the bottom three, Luca Gotti is unlikely to experience a relegation battle. But, at the mid-point stage of the season, he will be keen to start putting some more points on the board.

Ahead of Friday’s meeting the two teams appear relatively well matched. Bologna have the home advantage but played on Monday night, further fatiguing a team that is already suffering a number of injuries. As a result, a draw could well be a solid prediction for this fixture.

Another similarity is that both squads are missing their key focal point in attack. Bologna do have the advantage of boasting a number of other attacking options, however. Both Lewis Ferguson and Riccardo Orsolini have scored three goals in Serie A, whereas no Spezia player other than Mbala Nzola has scored more than two.

Even so, past encounters between the two sides suggest that Friday’s clash should be an entertaining one. There have been three goals or more in five of the last six meetings, with both teams on the scoresheet in all apart from Spezia’s 1-0 away win to Bologna last season. A double on over 2.5 goals scored and BTTS could therefore pay off.

Recent history between the two teams may point towards a home win. Bologna have not lost to Spezia in any of their last five meetings and are narrow favourites to take the three points. With Marko Arnautovic potentially able to return to the bench, a wager on the Austrian to score the winner on Friday may just be worth a high-risk punt.

Bologna team news

Marko Arnautovic is unlikely to be fit to start against Spezia, meaning Musa Barrow is expected to lead the line on Friday. Nicola Sansone is also sidelined with an injury, further limiting attacking options. Kevin Bonifazi and Lorenzo Di Silvestri will also be missing in defence.

Spezia team news

Mbala Nzola may miss out yet again on Friday in a big loss for Luca Gotti. The manager is also without Simone Bastoni and, as a result, changed formations in the loss to Roma last weekend. However, newcomer Szymon Zurkowski is available to slot in at central midfield to return to their favourite shape.
