Genoa took an early lead away to Bologna but were left with just a point after a last-minute equaliser from Lorenzo De Silvestri.

The Emilia-Romagna outfit have been flying high this term, putting themselves in contention for the European spots, whilst the Ligurian side have shown positive signs in their first year back in the topflight under Alberto Gilardino.

Thiago Motta’s side started the match at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on the front foot, but it was the visitors who took the lead against the run of play after 20 minutes through an Albert Gudmundsson free kick, giving them an early lead.

Bologna quickly tried to respond and continued piling on the pressure in the first half, with Riccardo Orsolini and Joshua Zirkzee having a handful of chances, but they were unable to find the back of the net.

Genoa were clearly on the back foot throughout the second half, surviving amidst an onslaught of Bologna chances, but their luck finally ran out in the closing stages of the battle.

In the 95th minute, a Genoa corner led to a desperate scramble in the box which ended with a clean shot from De Silvestri, whose strike sailed into the back of the net, drawing the home side level.
