Bologna are interested in making a move for Toronto FC winger Federico Bernardeschi, keen to bring him back to Serie A.

The 29-year-old Italian left Juventus on a free transfer last year to join up with the MLS side, penning a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Canadian club. He was quickly joined by former Napoli talisman Lorenzo Insigne.

Bernardeschi started life with Toronto well, scoring eight goals in his first 13 MLS appearances, but things have been more difficult this season, where he’s managed just three goals and two assists in 21 league games.

Page 14 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Bologna are keen to bring Bernardeschi back to Serie A this summer, but are concerned about his wages.

The 29-year-old currently earns around €4m net per season, figures the Rossoblu cannot match, but his desire to return to Italy could make the difference.

Bernardeschi recently found himself in hot water, being shown a red card in Toronto’s recent 4-0 loss to Orlando City.
