President Joey Saputo announced the plans to reconstruct the stadium, which was first built in 1927.

It will have 27,000 seats, although can be expanded to 29,000 for special events, all of them covered.

“It’s a structure that will maintain the architecture that is part of its history, but will be combined with the beauty of modernity.”

The Mayor of Bologna, Virginio Merola, was also present, although when work will actually begin is not yet clear.

“I am counting on getting all done within the next five years,” added the club President.
