Bologna changed their tune on Mario Balotelli, hinting they’d “be ready to discuss it if he lowered his economic demands.”

It’s a turnaround, as on Sunday general manager Claudio Fenucci was adamant the Liverpool striker “does not have a profile that fits our current plans.”

Another Bologna director, Pantaleo Corvino, also opened the door to SuperMario and Antonio Cassano.

“They are two treasures of Italian football. I’d sign Mario because he would be very motivated, but Bologna have certain parameters to be respected.

“At the right price, I would evaluate the possibility. Cassano can also still give a great deal to Italian football. I remember I brought Cristiano Lucarelli to Lecce during a difficult time for him. He scored 31 goals in two years and guaranteed an excellent profit.”

Sampdoria have also shown interest in Balotelli, with President Massimo Ferrero announcing Liverpool wanted €10m for the striker.

That is half what the Reds paid for him only a year ago.
