Bologna confirmed they are “very close” to Cagliari defender Luca Rossettini, but Roma striker Mattia Destro “is a difficult target.”

The Rossoblu are back in Serie A next season after a year in Serie B, having gained promotion via the play-offs.

“We are very close to a deal for Rossettini, although my 20 years in football tell me to be cautious,” Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci explained to Sky Sport Italia.

“We are very close to a deal for Rossettini, although my 20 years in football tell me to be cautious,” Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci explained to Sky Sport Italia.

“This is one of the steps we are taking on the market and expect others, albeit within our capabilities. We will get players who are experienced and capable of forming the foundations for a project to secure Serie A safety.”

Bologna have also been linked with a bid for Roma centre-forward Destro, who will return to base after his loan at Milan.

“He is a very talented player, but a difficult target for a side like Bologna. Any Serie A club would be interested in signing him. As always, it depends on the demands from Roma and the player.”
