Alessandro Diamanti believes one more win for his former Bologna teammates could be enough to keep them in Serie A.

The 30-year-old, now at Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, also believes the Rossoblu’s 2-2 draw with Inter will provide them with a major confidence boost.

“After losing yesterday Catania are more or less down,” Diamanti said to Gazzetta dello Sport. “The other four are pretty much on a level playing field because they are all of the same ability.

“I hope that the 2-2 draw with Inter gives a great boost of confidence to my ex-teammates and helps them approach the upcoming matches well.

“Drawing at San Siro is always nice. I have had the fortune to win twice against Inter in the last two years.

“Pana is Bologna’s most important player, they will certainly have to rely on him to get safety.

“All five teams at the bottom are tired. The five of them are all having a very strange and difficult season.

“But at the end of the day things aren’t that difficult because even one win could be enough to get out of trouble.

“This is especially the case for Bologna and Chievo.”
