There are reports Bologna could dismiss Sinisa Mihajlovic after the 6-1 defeat to Inter and call in Daniele De Rossi.

The Rossoblu had already crashed out of the Coppa Italia in the first round to Serie B side Ternana, but had then amassed seven points from three Serie A rounds.

That good run came crashing to a halt at San Siro this evening, with a humiliating 6-1 scoreline going to Inter.

Now Tuttomercatoweb suggest that Bologna are considering a change of management, with ex-Roma midfielder De Rossi as their first choice to replace Mihajlovic.

It would be De Rossi’s first job as head coach, as he left the Italy staff after UEFA EURO 2020, where he had been an assistant to Roberto Mancini.

It would be an unfortunate ending to this story for Mihajlovic, who has been in charge of Bologna since January 2019.

The club stood by him during the months of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transfusion, as he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in the summer of 2019.

He ran training sessions and gave team talks remotely from his hospital room, and has now made a full recovery.

3 thought on “Bologna look at De Rossi to replace Mihajlovic”
  1. Sure hope that’s media chatter and not really the case. It would seem awfully misguided for Saputo and co to take such drastic action so early in the season.

Bologna are 3 pts off Inter in the table; above Juve; might be above or equal with Atalanta after tonight’s match and only lost 1 match this season. Good start to the season imho.

Would be crazy to appoint an inexperienced mngr like DDR, as much as I like him.

Now is not the time. Take it easy Bologna…put the noose back in the cupboard.

  2. Sounds like a funny joke, they never make any investment to suggest they are a team worthy of above 10th position so why talking about replacing the coach after just 3 matches

  3. It’s a bit too early for that. Too early to sack Mihajlovic and too early for DDR. If I was DDR I’d start in Serie B and get some experience.
