Antonio Mirante is undergoing tests for cardiac issues, so Bologna have signed goalkeeper Alfred Gomis on loan from Torino.

There were reports circulating that 33-year-old Mirante had been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia, although this is yet to be confirmed.

Bologna did release a statement noting he was “taken ill” and was undergoing a series of tests.

These will continue into next week and only then will doctors give an estimate of when he’ll be able to resume playing.

In the meantime, Gomis arrived on deadline day from Torino on loan.

Mirante played for Juventus, Sampdoria, Siena, Crotone, Parma and joined Bologna last year.

He was one of the symbols of the Parma squad that continued playing even when the club was bankrupt.
