Bari have confirmed that Bologna have joined Palermo in the race to sign Jean-Francois Gillet.

The club captain is expected to be sold by the Stadio San Nicola outfit after the club were relegated from Serie A.

"We have received an offer from Bologna," Bari sporting director Guido Angelozzi noted. "Contact has already been made."

Bologna's move for Gillet seems to suggest that they are looking for an Emiliano Viviano replacement, the Italian international who they co-own with Inter.

Siena are also understood to be monitoring Gillet's situation.

Gillet has been on Bari's books since September 2000 and he's been at the club for every season since apart from a loan spell at Treviso in 2003-04.

Gillet, born in May 1979, started his career with Standard Liege before heading to Italy with Monza in 1999.
