Despite Napoli and Olympique Marseille interest, Bologna have confirmed that midfielder Mattias Svanberg will join VfL Wolfsburg and they will take Andrea Cambiaso on loan from Juventus.

The Sweden international is only under contract until June 2023 at the Stadio Dall’Ara and was therefore expected to leave this summer.

There were numerous clubs who stepped up the pressure on Svanberg, including Napoli and most recently Olympique Marseille.

However, today Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci confirmed to Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb that a deal had been done with German side Wolfsburg.

“We tried to resist due to the value of the player, it is a deal that is good for both clubs.”

It is believed to be a permanent transfer for a fee of circa €9m.

Svanberg should fly out to Germany over the next 24 hours for a medical and to sign the new contract.

Bologna purchased the 23-year-old from Malmo in the summer of 2018 at a cost of €4.5m and he amassed 117 Serie A appearances, in which he contributed nine goals and eight assists.

He also has 21 senior caps for Sweden.

Fenucci also confirmed that Bologna will sign Cambiaso on a dry loan from Juventus, just hours after the Genoa full-back completed his transfer to the Bianconeri.
