Bologna confirmed there is “friction” in their rapport with Juventus, which is making talks for Alessandro Diamanti difficult.

The former West Ham United man is on the radar of both the Bianconeri and Inter, but director general Roberto Zanzi warned they are not ready to release him.

“It’s true, there is a lot of interest around our players and that shows how good they are,” Zanzi told Sky Sport Italia ahead of today’s game with Genoa.

“Our project is simple: we want to maintain this basic structure of the team, albeit amid the difficulties of players who are co-owned with other clubs or have personal ambitions elsewhere.

“We received a formal request for Diamanti on January 31, but nothing after that. Juventus have never called Bologna. They probably contacted his agent, but they know it would be difficult to negotiate with us, so they never bothered.

“As of today, I’d say there is a very high chance of Diamanti staying with Bologna.”

Bologna have numerous players in co-ownership deals with Juventus, but the two clubs have become increasingly distant.

“We believe we did a good job working with their players. They probably don’t see it that way and it has created some friction,” continued Zanzi.

“For the future we will have to make a few evaluations. If they are not happy, then we’ll make other considerations.

“One of the reasons behind the friction is that we did not use Manolo Gabbiadini as a centre-forward, but we have Alberto Gilardino, so Manolo did well to adapt. This shows how good he is rather than penalised him.”
