Il Resto del Carlino report general manager Andrea Zanzi and President Albano Guaraldi have been in talks with South American agent Pablo Betancourt from before Christmas to try to initiate a transfer for the Uruguay Under-20 international striker.

This includes Betancourt attending Bologna-Roma as a guest of the club and those at Bologna flying out over the holiday period to meet with Betancourt and the player.

It is believed that the Rossoblu’s early work leaves them ahead of other interested parties – including Siena and Inter – and just a step away from securing a deal for the attacking forward who is described as the next Gaston Ramirez.

Whilst Bueno is a non-EU national and Bologna have already filled their quota of non-EU nationals in the squad, it is reported that the club believe Bueno can qualify for an Italian passport through a distant relative. Failing that, his arrival is thought likely to accelerate plans to offload compatriot Henry Gimenez.

Bologna have also recently been linked with a loan deal for Inter forward Luc Castagnios.
