Bologna have asked Riccardo Calafiori to attend pre-season training, because negotiations with Arsenal are a standstill over a €10m difference between offer and valuation.

The deal was seemingly done a couple of weeks ago for €54m, but it seems as if that figure includes rather a lot of add-ons and performance-related bonuses, whereas the Rossoblu would prefer a guaranteed fee.

Bologna content to keep Calafiori

They won’t get all of it, so have to be focused, because FC Basel have a right to 40 per cent of the sell-on fee.

That was agreed when the Swiss side sold Calafiori to Bologna for just €4m a year ago and he has since flourished, further raising his profile with performances for Italy at EURO 2024.

With all of that in mind, Bologna want at least €50m in cash, plus add-ons, to sell the 22-year-old to Arsenal.

If not, then Sky Sport Italia note they are more than happy to keep the defender and have asked him to attend pre-season training with new coach Vincenzo Italiano.
