Josip Ilicic is set to leave Atalanta, but continue his playing career in Serie A, with interest from Bologna and newly-promoted Lecce.

The Slovenia international scored four goals with five assists in 24 competitive games this season, but his final game was on January 9.

Given time off to deal with mental health concerns, he made an eight-minute cameo in the last match of the season against Empoli so he could wave goodbye to the fans.

However, if he does continue his playing career, it will probably still be in Serie A.

Italy remains his home, having been in the Peninsula since joining Palermo in the summer of 2010, moving on through Fiorentina and since 2017 Atalanta.

According to TuttoAtalanta and the Corriere dello Sport, there have been approaches from both Bologna and new boys Lecce.

In both cases, there are people who already know Ilicic, as new Bologna director Giovanni Sartori used to work at Atalanta, while Lecce chief Pantaleo Corvino brought him to Palermo and Fiorentina.
