Inter CEO Michael Bolingbroke explained the decision to sack Walter Mazzarri and bring in Roberto Mancini.
The switch was made on Friday afternoon and new Coach Mancini presented to the media today.
“I’d like to publicly thank Walter Mazzarri for everything he has done for the club,” began Bolingbroke at the Press conference.
“Over the last year and a half, Walter dedicated himself to this club, gave 110 per cent, a huge amount of passion and at the end of last year took us back to Europe. On behalf of all the management team, I’d like to thank him.
“Decisions like this are never easy, because there’s no wrong or right decision to make. It’s a judgement call and in our judgment it was time for a change.
“Inter is a world class club. Inter should return once again to the very pinnacle of world football and that is what we intend to do.
“That is why we asked Roberto Mancini to be our Head Coach. Roberto has a stellar track record and considerable international experience. Roberto has won silverware at every club he has managed.
“I was at Manchester United when Roberto joined Manchester City. I watched him take a mid-table club and make it a powerhouse in the Premier League. He did that.
“I know that with that and his other successes, Roberto Mancini is absolutely the right choice for us. Roberto, we are privileged to have you back here again and we all wish you luck.”
