Bodo/Glimt ultras have penned a letter to their Roma counterparts calling for a peaceful Conference League clash.
The two clubs have sparked an unexpected rivalry this season thanks to the Europa Conference League, with everything stemming from the Norwegian side’s 6-1 win over the Giallorossi back in the first half of the season. Jose Mourinho’s side have not beaten Bodo/Glimt in three attempts, so they’ll have to dig deep tomorrow at the Stadio Olimpico to overcome their 2-1 aggregate disadvantage.
Bodo/Glimt ultra group Glimt i Steigen wrote an open letter to Roma fans ahead of tomorrow’s Conference League clash, calling for peace off the pitch.
“Dear supporters of Roma,
“On Thursday night we will play each other in a football match. Many of our Norwegian supporter subjects from Sor-Norge are worried that there may be a lot of fighting and stabbing between us, so hear our plea.
“Through many years we have shared so much. Italy has given us brilliant restaurants like the Orion and Fellini. You have given us Chianti and Spghetti alla Capri. We gave you acquavite and stockfish. Our friendship and collaboration goes all the way back to King Sverre.
“So, let our fight it out on the pitch, and outside the dressing rooms if need be, and be friends before and after the game.
“Grazie, Glimt i Steigen.”
Some Roma fans are unhappy with the letter, which hit multiple stereotypes such as the threat of stabbings in the Italian capital. It’s likely that tomorrow’s game will be a fairly tense affair but both clubs hope things will remain peaceful off the pitch.
