Bodo/Glimt hit back at Roma over Solbakken ‘violation of rules’

The bitter rapport between Bodo/Glimt and Roma continues, as the Norwegian club warns it would be ‘a violation of the rules’ if the Giallorossi spoke to Ola Solbakken.

There were reports on Sky Sport Italia that Jose Mourinho’s side had agreed personal terms with Solbakken, whose contract with Bodo/Glimt expires in December.

The right-sided winger is a 23-year-old Norway international who scored eight goals and provided five assists in 19 official matches this season.

That includes a brace in the historic 6-1 group phase victory against Roma on October 21, 2021.

However, Bodo/Glimt director Havard Sakariassen told Norwegian site Nettavisen that they would not take that lying down.

“Roma have not been in contact with us. Roma currently do not have permission to speak to Ola Solbakken. If these rumours have some foundation, then that means there has been a violation of the rules.”

The rapport between the clubs is extremely tense due to those four matches they played in the Conference League, a tournament Roma eventually went on to win.

Bodo won 6-1 at home in the group phase, then drew 2-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.

They crossed paths again in the quarter-final and there were ugly scenes after the 2-1 Norwegian victory on April 7, resulting in both Bodo coach Kjetil Knutsen and Roma goalkeeping trainer Nuno Santos being suspended for a brawl.
