Salvatore Bocchetti confesses to regretting his move to Russian club Rubin Kazan. “I hope to return to Italy in the transfer window.”

The Italy defender made the move in August 2010, putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

“It's tough being so far away from my homeland. In a few months the transfer window will open and I hope to return to Italy,” said the former Genoa man.

“I will also try to come back to Italy so that I can earn my place in the Nazionale again.”

Bocchetti was born in Naples and has been linked with his hometown club, who this weekend face off with his former Genoa teammates.

“I am tied to both clubs, so I hope the best team wins. I heard rumours about Napoli, but they have never shown any formal interest in me.”
