Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal is reportedly close to agreeing personal terms with Boca Juniors, as confirmed by his cousin Gonzalo Vasquez.

His contract with the Nerazzurri is due to expire in June 2023 and he is not part of coach Simone Inzaghi’s plans, so is expected to terminate that deal by mutual consent.

A return to South America is on the cards, despite a good offer from Galatasaray, and Boca Juniors seem to have overtaken Flamengo in the running.

“Flamengo complimented him, but Boca moved rapidly and I think there’s a 70-80 per cent possibility it will get done,” Vasquez told Radio La Red.

“He is not interested in money, otherwise he’d go to Qatar or the United States. He wants to feel that passion again, to feel the Bombonera shake. It would be very important for his career.”

Meanwhile, Boca Juniors coach Sebastian Battaglia also commented on the reports that Vidal could be joining the club in Argentina.

“I was told there were negotiations, but I haven’t had a chance to talk to him. We know the kind of player Vidal is and what his arrival would mean for us, so we’re very enthusiastic.”
