Eintracht Frankfurt director Fredi Bobic confirms they ‘want to keep Andre Silva’ beyond the two-season loan, but not necessarily tied to Ante Rebic’s fate with Milan.

The two strikers swapped places in a two-year loan deal with minutes to spare in the transfer deadline, which is why they did not have time to agree on purchase options or figures.

“It is our clear intention to keep Andre Silva after the two-season loan, but naturally we have to deal with the realities of the moment,” technical director Bobic told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The same goes for Rebic. I am happy he is doing well at Milan after a small period of adjustment, but I had no doubts that both forwards would have a great season.

“It’s still too early to talk about definitive deals, but there’s plenty of time.”

Portugal international Andre Silva has scored nine goals with four assists in his 26 competitive games for Eintracht.

“We like him both personally and professionally,” continued Bobic. “He repeatedly tells us that he’s very happy in Germany. It was important for us to make it a two-year loan, because he moved around through different countries and clubs in recent years and we wanted to prove we were ready to give him some consistency.”

Although the loans were exchanges, the Eintracht Frankfurt director is eager to point out “the two moves are not connected and the negotiations are separate.”
