Zvonimir Boban looks set to leave Milan at the end of the season, and Paolo Maldini could follow, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Boban criticised the Milan leadership in an interview with La Gazzetta several days ago, accusing Elliott Management of “going behind our backs” when identifying a new coach for next season.

It’s reported that the owners want Ralf Rangnick, who is currently head of sport and development at soft drink corporation Red Bull, to take over from Stefano Pioli for next season.

It seems that Elliott didn’t consult with either Boban, Maldini and Ricky Massara over their decision, and La Gazzetta states that the rapport is so fractured between Boban and CEO Ivan Gazidis that the Croatian could walk away at the end of the season.

The Milan daily also claims that Maldini could also walk away in the summer, as he also feels undermined.

Elliott Management took over the running of the club from Li Yonghong in the summer of 2018, after the Chinese owner defaulted on his €300m loan from the American company.
