Blazquez explains plans for Genoa

Andres Blazquez, one of the new Genoa owners, says the Grifone ‘haven’t won a title for too long’ and explains Enrico Preziosi’s role at the club.

The Miami-based investment company confirmed the acquisition of the Serie A side on Thursday.

“Preziosi has sold all his shares, but we’ve asked for his support to manage some aspects, mainly related to relations in Lega Calcio,” Blazquez told Il Secolo XIX.

“Preziosi immediately expressed his willingness to help us until certain objectives are achieved. He will have no decision-making roles since we have acquired 100% of the club,” he continued.

Blazquez, who is also a Sevilla board member, explained his plans for the future of Genoa.

“We think the Stadio Ferraris is an important stadium for the two clubs of Genoa,” he said.

“We want to find a solution for optimal investment. For us, having a beautiful stadium in Italy to see football is very important.

“It’s been too many years since the last Scudetto. We want to work to return to those years of glory, it takes time to bring Genoa back to the top of the standings, but we are ambitious.”
