Blackburn have distanced themselves from reports suggesting that the club will make a £6.2m bid for Milan playmaker Ronaldinho.

The former World Player of the Year is on his way out of San Siro after Milan opted to sign Antonio Cassano from Sampdoria.

Ronaldinho has been strongly linked with a move back to Brazil, although his wages appear to be something of a stumbling block.

His agent Roberto de Assis has since revealed that there is also interest from Premier League clubs, including Blackburn.

However, Venkatesh Rao, the director of Indian poultry company Venky's who recently bought Blackburn, has poured cold water on talk of Ronaldinho playing at Ewood Park.

Asked about Blackburn's reported bid in the Lancashire Telegraph, Rao said: "That's not true.

"There is no interest at all, they are just rumours."
