Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason explained his transfer to Brescia and how he has “grown so much since I last played in Italy.”

This was a return to Serie A for the 31-year-old, who already wore the Pescara and Sampdoria jerseys in 2012-15.

“The talks only started a few days ago and I am very happy to be back in Italy with Brescia,” said Bjarnason in his press conference.

This was a return to Serie A for the 31-year-old, who already wore the Pescara and Sampdoria jerseys in 2012-15.

“The talks only started a few days ago and I am very happy to be back in Italy with Brescia,” said Bjarnason in his press conference.

“We have talented players here and a squad that in my view plays good football, so I think we can survive the drop. I’ve played in six countries now, so I have experienced different cultures and feel that I’ve grown so much since I last played in Italy.

“What I love about Italian football is how super passionate everyone is. Icelandic football has changed recently too, as over the last six or seven years we have a new generation that is doing so much, playing in the Euros and the World Cup.”

Bjarnason already made his Brescia debut off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Cagliari, but could start on Friday against Milan.

“We have to start picking up points as soon as possible, because we don’t want to be left near the end of the season desperate for results.

“I believe we can do great things with this team against Milan.”
