Pescara goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri explained precisely what happened with that revoked penalty decision against Napoli.

It was 2-2 at the Stadio Adriatico this evening when the referee pointed to the spot, but then changed his mind after consultation with the goal-line ref.

“What happened was the goal-line referee, Rocchi, had already alerted him that there was a foul on me, but Giacomelli wasn’t listening,” Bizzarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“What happened was the goal-line referee, Rocchi, had already alerted him that there was a foul on me, but Giacomelli wasn’t listening,” Bizzarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“If you look at the replays, I couldn’t see the incident because there were two Napoli players sitting on top of me.”

The footage does show Raul Albiol barged into Bizzarri on the corner, which happened before Piotr Zielinski was clipped in the head by a high Dario Zuparic foot.

Therefore it was not a penalty because play had already been halted by the earlier foul on the goalkeeper.
