Former Cagliari boss Pierpaolo Bisoli claims he advised Juventus to sign Alessandro Matri.

The latter joined the Turin giants on loan in January and has responded with three goals in three games, including the winner against Inter last night.

"I spoke with the Juventus directors after Alessandro grabbed a great brace in our 4-2 defeat in Turin earlier this season," Bisoli noted.

"I made it clear to them that Matri was good enough for a big team. They heard me and now the player is proving as much."

Matri has made a dream start to life in Bianconero and was also included in the Italy squad for last week's 1-1 draw in Germany.

"He's a great player," Bisoli, who was sacked by Cagliari in November, stated. "His qualities can't be doubted.

"He can play as a first or a second striker, he moves a lot and adapts to whoever he is playing alongside. That's why he can play anywhere and everywhere."

Bisoli also praised Juventus for the way they had welcomed the player with open arms.

"Alessandro is a sensible lad who needs to feel that people believe in him," continued the former midfielder.

"I think boss Gigi Del Neri and his teammates have immediately made him feel at ease. Matri is now paying people back for their faith in him."
