Birmingham City are still interested in signing Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah, according to manager Harry Redknapp.
Reports of an €8m bid from Birmingham for Acquah surfaced over a week ago, but despite there not being any developments since then, Redknapp made it clear his club were “always” pursuing the Ghanaian.
“He has always been one we’ve been after, we’ve not suddenly gone from Onazi to Acquah, we were always on Acquah anyway,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss was referring to a potential deal for ex-Lazio man Ogneyi Onazi, which collapsed due to problems over a work permit.
Birmingham sit 12th in the EFL Championship after a win, a draw and a defeat in their opening three games.
