Juan Cuadrado saw red after 17 minutes, but Dusan Vlahovic had already opened the scoring in Turin, with Biraghi’s cross accidentally turned in by Alex Sandro before he assisted Martin Caceres.

“We expected a good performance here, but did we expect to win 3-0? You need the perfect match in Turin for the victory and that’s what we did tonight,” Biraghi told Sky Sport Italia.

It is no coincidence that so many of the Fiorentina attacks came down that left flank with Biraghi, up against his old teammate Chiesa.

“I know Chiesa well, he has this incredible change of pace that can cause big problems. However, seeing as I do know him very well, I also realise he doesn’t like to be attacked and he struggles to track back and defend.

“Therefore, I tried to attack him and it worked well.”
