Silva, who scored 11 goals in 40 games for Milan, has been in top form for months and has scored 13 goals in 18 League games since football resumed in May.

The 25-year-old Portugal international has bagged 22 goals in 46 competitive games for Frankfurt so far, including five in eight Bundesliga games this term.

Rebic went the other way, as Milan were eager to confirm a permanent deal for the 27-year-old one year early.

The Rossoneri reportedly paid €5m for Rebic, who excelled next to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the second half of Serie A 2019-20.

Rebic has yet to score in five Serie A games this term but has contributed 12 goals in 37 competitive games for the Diavolo.

Fiorentina, who sold Rebic for €2m in July 2018, picked up further €2.5m after the re-sale to Milan.
