Napoli's sporting director Riccardo Bigon has admitted that the club have tried desperately to sign Sampdoria man Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine forward has been in inspiring form this year, scoring against Juventus, Genoa and four at home to Pescara.
And the Partenopei administrator has conceded that they have been looking at the 19-year-old, and also commented on the arrival Rolando.
“Rolando is a player we really wanted,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “It was a complicated deal, but he is a player with great motivation.
“Icardi is a man we have been following for months – he is a great player, but we cannot strike up a deal now.”
