Napoli director Riccardo Bigon hit back at Juventus chief Beppe Marotta. “The passion of the Neapolitans is only to be admired.”
Marotta complained about “excessive euphoria” after Napoli’s 2-0 win against Juve, suggesting they “looked like a provincial” club.
“Everyone experiences emotions the way they think is best,” replied Bigon on Sky Sport Italia this evening.
“The passion of the Neapolitans is only to be admired. It should be imitated, not condemned.
“Why did I attend Antonio Conte’s post-match interviews? I have been going behind the cameras to watch the interviews for 10 years.
“For someone in my line of work, it’s important to see how people deal with defeat. It was particularly interesting to see how Conte behaved, seeing as he loses so rarely.”
Bigon was speaking at the Stadio Tardini ahead of tonight’s Serie A match between Napoli and Parma.
They play knowing Roma have already won 3-1 away to Cagliari and extended the gap to 12 points.
“It changes little for us, we knew that we were targeting the victory tonight regardless of Roma’s result. We’ll try, but it obviously won’t be simple, as Parma play very good football.”
