There are reports Lazio captain Lucas Biglia will be out for a month after he was stretchered off with a calf strain.

The incident occurred during the second half of tonight’s 2-1 Serie A victory over Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Argentina international was visibly upset as he suddenly pulled up and had to be stretchered off the field.

He went to hospital for tests and the initial reports are that Biglia suffered a calf strain.

"The tests did show up a lesion to the muscle, but we can only ascertain the extent with a second round of tests," said a medical statement.

If the extent of the damage is confirmed, he will be out of action for a month.

Even if the results are more reassuring than these early rumours, Biglia will nonetheless miss the upcoming Champions League play-off with Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.

Lazio won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a Keita Balde Diao goal.
