With the summer transfer window in full swing, Wayne Girard takes a look at the most notable rumours surrounding the big five…

Sometimes the transfer market can become a bit confusing. It’s difficult to keep tabs on who is rumoured where, for how much, and if a deal has been made official. With countless accounts ‘reporting’ breaking news on social media, it only adds to the chaos. Here are the ten biggest transfer rumours thus far…

Inter

Robert Renan

Now that Piotr Zieliński’s deal is complete, Inter have turned their attention to a young spirit in defence. Renan is just 20 years old, and the Brazilian would be seen as cover for Alessandro Bastoni in the left centre-back position. Inter believe they can sign him for less than €20 million from Zenit St. Petersburg.

Jakub Kiwior

Familiar with Italian football from his time with Spezia, the Arsenal defender is another option, and one with greater experience to provide cover across Inter’s back line. The Gunners’ are ready to sign Calafiori, which would free up the Polish defender for a move.

Juventus

Teun Koopmeiners

The Old Lady has already danced her way through this summer mercato with four major signings of Michele Di Gregorio, Khéphren Thuram, Douglas Luiz, and Juan Cabal. The Dutchman’s signature would be the icing on the cake for an all-new midfield that has taken one giant leap up in quality.

Federico Chiesa

Leaving Roma at the altar, Federico Chiesa has already been dropped by Juventus as he pursues a new club. The most recent links are for Chelsea, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich. The German giants have a few screws loose, and the explosive Italian winger would fit in quite nicely with German football while providing his experience to settle things down in Bavaria.

Milan

Youssouf Fofana/Lazar Samardzic

The Monaco midfielder is ‘virtually’ a new Milan player, according to Gazzetta, despite competition from Manchester United and Atletico Madrid. However, the Frenchman may not be the only addition to Milan’s midfield. One of the hotter names in last year’s summer transfer window, Lazar Samardzic is ready to move on from Udinese. He’s pushing for a move and Milan have already agreed terms with his father-agent. Expect a figure around €22.5 million, and the possibility of youth players included in the deal.

Strahinja Pavlovic

Red Bull Leipzig will command a full fee for their prised 23-year-old centre-back. The clubs have a good relationship following the Noah Okafor deal last season, and Milan are trying to leverage it in order to lower the €30 million valuation.

Roma

Matías Soulé

While it has been reported that the Argentinian youngster has agreed terms with Roma, the Giallorossi have yet to meet Juventus’ 30 million demands. Daniele De Rossi has been searching all summer long for the missing counterpart to Paulo Dybala, and the deal could be reached by week’s end.

Samuel Dahl

The 21-year-old Swedish left-back adds much-needed fresh legs to De Rossi’s flank, as well as quality that’s been missing since Leonardo Spinazzola’s first season in Rome. Likened to Jordi Alba, Dahl was in the 99th percentile for defensive actions and 96th percentile for expected assists last season for Djurgårdens in the Allsvenskan Swedish first division.

Tammy Abraham

Following Tammy’s long recovery and desire for more consistency, Roma are looking elsewhere for their starting striker. Milan may still make a move for him following their purchase of Álvaro Morata, and Juventus are supposedly in for his serves as well. Don’t exclude the chance he could follow Chiesa abroad or, likely, back home to England.

Napoli

Romelu Lukaku/Victor Osimhen

As Paris Saint-Germain are unwilling to exceed the €80m mark for Victor Osimhen, things are at a standstill for the Belgian to Napoli. If the PSG deal does fall through, Chelsea and Arsenal would be more than happy to secure the Nigerian’s services even if none of them seem willing to match the Nigerian’s €130m clause. Antonio Conte has already identified the ideal replacement for Osimhen in Romelu Lukaku, but the Partenopei must wait to sign the Belgian until Osi leaves.
