Ainsley Maitland-Niles may not be the only Roma signing coming from the Premier League as José Mourinho has reportedly set his sights on Manchester United’s Charlie Wellens and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Wellens, 19, is a long time target of Mourinho, who also wanted to sign him at Tottenham.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese coach now wants to take the Englishman to the Stadio Olimpico.

Wellens is a product of Manchester United academy and has yet to make his senior debut with the Red Devils.

Mourinho is looking for midfield reinforcement and it remains to be seen if the youngster would be the only signing in the middle of the park for the Giallorossi.

No coincidence that, according to Gazzetta, Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also on Roma’s radars, but Tuttosport report the Blues’ outcast is also on Lazio‘s sights.

Maitland-Niles to Roma: the details of the agreement with Arsenal

Safe to say that Mourinho likes Premier League players, given that the Giallorossi are close to signing Maitland-Niles from Arsenal.

The versatile 24-year-old is expected to become a backup for Rick Karsdorp, Roma’s regular starter at right wing-back.

The Serie A side are close to finalising the agreement with Arsenal and Maitland-Niles should arrive in Italy as soon as he recovers from COVID.
